Timber stocks amounted to 7.9 million cubic meters on 30 June, according to the Swedish Forest Agency's survey. That is the lowest volume for this time of year since 2018.
Timber stocks on 30 June 2023 totaled 7.9 million cubic meters, which was 9 percent less than the same time last year. Stocks on 30 June 2023 broken down by assortment (comparison with the same time last year):
Stocks of softwood pulpwood (including spruce pulpwood) amounted to 3.8 million cubic meters, which was a decrease of 13 percent compared to the end of June 2022. Stocks of hardwood pulpwood, on the other hand, increased by 43 percent compared to the same time in 2022 and amounted to 0.9 million cubic meters.
Stocks of softwood sawlogs were lower than the same time last year in all timber balance areas. Stocks of pulpwood were also lower in balance area 1 and 4 but the same level as last summer in balance area 2 and 3.
We have made a couple of changes to this year's survey. Stocks of softwood sawlogs at industry and in terminals are from now on reported together. Stocks of softwood, pine pulpwood and spruce pulpwood are reported together as softwood pulpwood. Older data for these variables are therefore combined for a fair comparison with the results for the year.
The cubic meter referred to is m3f ub, solid cubic meter without bark.

As of 2022, the survey has been expanded for a more complete accounting of stocks of softwood saw logs by road. This means that comparisons with stocks for previous years in the case of coniferous saw logs should be made with extreme caution. We estimate that the extension corresponds to about 300,000 m3f ub of softwood saw logs.
