The Swedish Forest Agency is the national authority in charge of forest-related issues. Our main function is to promote the kind of management of Sweden's forests that enables the objectives of forest policy to be attained.
The Swedish Forest Agency work to implement the forest policy. Supervision of the Forestry Act is an important part of upholding the legislation. If you are uncertain about the demands placed on your forests by the Forestry Act, please contact the forest officer in your district.
The Forest Agency has offices in approximately 80 places in the country, with the head office in Jönköping.
The Swedish Forest Agency has been assigned the task by the Swedish government to enable an active Swedish involvement in international forest policy processes and reporting.
The Swedish Forest Agency is a statistical agency and we are responsible for three forest statistical areas included in The Official Statistics of Sweden; "Forestry production", "Employment in forestry" and "Environment and social values in forestry".
