
The total amount of energy supplied to Swedish society during year 2010 was 616 TWh. Biofuels, peat, etc. accounted for 20 % of that total.
The use of biofuels, peat etc. for energy purposes was 137 TWh in 2010
Of that amount:
- 45 % was used for industrial purposes (including electricity generation),
- 41 % for district heating and
- 14 % to heat detached houses.
Wood fuel was used to generate 32 TWh for district heating during 2010.
The current annual use of wood to heat detached houses is estimated at approx. 7 million m3 (stacked dimension) corresponding to about 9 TWh.
