Roundwood prices decreased in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the prior quarter. Sawlog and pulpwood prices decreased by 3 and 7 percent respectively. Sawlog prices rose in Southern Region by 2 percent. In Central Region and in the Northern Region sawlog prices decreased by 5 and 10 percent respectively.
Pulpwood prices decreased by 4 percent in the Southern Region, 7 percent in Central Region and by 14 percent in Northern Region.
When comparing the first quarter of 2012 and the same quarter of 2011, sawlog prices decreased by 10 percent and pulpwood prices by 4 percent.
